The Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration program prepares students for entry-level positions in a variety of Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration fields. Heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration mechanics and installers are adept at using a variety of tools for systems that control temperature, humidity, and the total air quality in residential, commercial, industrial, and other buildings. Students also learn refrigeration systems that make it possible to store and transport food, medicine, and other perishable items. Skills needed for these positions include: the ability to install, diagnose, and repair electrical components, motors, fans, pumps, ducts, pipes, thermostats, filters, switches, solar panels, furnace fuels, compressors, evaporators, and refrigerants, as well as the ability to read blueprints, perform carbon monoxide testing, and acquire EPA certification.
